Default Transmission Rebuild Kit

Ok as of right now the outer axel seal is leaking again...

This will mean the fourth replacement is needed in the last year !!

Time to rebuild the trans ??

Is there an inner seal ?

http://www.autotransparts.com/cart.p...t_detail&p=236

1300.00 doesn't seem that bad does it

400.00 for a rebuild kit then labor to rebuild it and removal and install...

Never did a GXP, but the 4t65e is about 4 hours or so to get out. You can count on 10-13 hours to pull it, rebuild it, and put it back. If your going threw seals like crazy, ten something is wrong. I suggest finding and correcting the problem. I don't really see rebuilding a transmission effecting the outer seal.

I don't think it is the outter seal causing the issues. But the fluid has to go somewhere. I noticed that there was a lot of play in the axel last time I replaced it.

I just think cost vs cost going a rebuilt is likely cheaper.

But in other transmissions what could cause an outter seal to go after a month repeatedly ?
A friend of mine thinks that because it only leaks while its cold it could be a burr on the axel !!

I'm lost

I'm not sure. but SGP358 should be able to answer this. Do you have a 4t80 in that car?

Here'* a question..... Since I am considering a new transmission, How hard would it be to mount up a Manual trans to the LD8....

I know I know its likely impossible, But don't you agree it would be so much freeeeeeeeeeeking FUN !!

I don't recall anyone doing it, but anything is possible. There is a plug in module that will give you manual control of the valve body.
