Traction Control Problems

I have discovered a TC problem with my Aurora. Pulling out of my driveway today in 3rd (I do a lot of city driving) my Traction control light would come on and I could here that definitive "wrrrrrr"ing sound of the traction system kicking in. I have a set of stock Michelin Energys on the car, the road conditions are fine, so there is no external reason for the computer to sense a change in road condtions.

I stopped the car, turn the TC off via the button on the console. No problemo. Stopped again, parked the car, re-engaged the TC, put the car in D and continued to experience intermittant TRACTION ACTIVE.

I'm pretty convinced its a sensor malfunction, possibly the Wheel Speed Sensor, any other ideas or experiences to share in the matter. I have make a 3hr road trip this weekend and its something I would like to have a little feedback on. My short term solution. Drive with TC off. However I am finicky and I want things to work properly

Any ideas doods? ;)

sorry to hear about that man. Your ABS will also start to go out at the same time now. I would just leave it if it were me... That's a lot of $$ for something I usually turn off anyway. This is a very common problem on the Riviera/Aurora unfortunately.

I know I'm the same way Jim....
It's probably going to be hard to find a junked Aurora isn't it....

BonneMeMN 05-23-2004 11:54 AM

I'd say disable the system for now, by pulling the fuse for the ABS module. That way, you can't be stopped all of a sudden by the car. Junker part it is..

Go figure I am no longer experiencing ETCBM problems. I drove with the TC on and it was fine. :?

Meh...if it becomes a problem, I will address it...so far so good.
