Does anyone have a pic of what comes in the kit for the air supply in the trunk? Someone at the dealership was kind enough to liberate my car of it before I took posession. 3 months later it still hasn't arrived from the factory.

Pretty common activity, even amongst previous Bonneville generation owners, I'm not suprised that a dealership would "borrow" an air hose.

I hope you get yours soon.

Your dealer is a hack and your car gets slightly better milage than a monster truck. Is there anything you like about your car? Oh, and if I get a chance, I'll take a pic of the air equipment.

I've been pretty lucky with my last two B-villes. They both have the kit'* with a piece or two missing from each (spot lamp from the SSEi kit and the 1st Aid kit, gloves, rain poncho, air line adaptors, and rags are gone from the SSE'* kit, but at least the air line and bag are still there).

Now was that really fair? You probably haven't seen most of my posts so I'll clear it up. My dealer has sold me 2 cars and always treated me well. The car I got was dealer traded so I have no idea who the air hose liberator was. I do enjoy driving the car and can afford the gas. I've also stated I really like the stereo. What does your 5.3 get for mileage? Doesn't it seem odd that a 4x4 with more power that'* lifted with oversize tires and wheels can get within 2 to 3 mpg of the Bonne? The Vette has 400 hp and gets better mileage doesn't it? So that should nuke the "well you did buy a performance sedan" comebacks. My feeling is if I am gonna get 15 mpg then I should have bought a real hotrod. It'* my loss, but I do like the car enough to live with it for now. Maybe it will improve with break-in.

My new GXP didn't have one in the trunk either and when I inquired why? they told me they don't come from the factory with the kit anymore, you have to buy them yourself. I did and the kit had no air hose in it, I should have kept mine from my 95 SSEi that I traded in on the GXP. I made my own hose assembly with parts from my local tool shop.

The 5300cc Vortec V8 in my Avalanche has averaged 14.169mpg over it'* 44000 km / 27340 miles. Not bad considering most is city/offroad driven and I've got a slightly heavy foot.

So is it unrealistic to question why the Bonne with 10 less hp and a much better aerodynamic package is getting 15?

It is true that they don't come from the factory with the convenience kit (or whatever it is called) but if you are buying new make sure that the kit is there if it is included on the invoice on the dealer option side. Mine was missing too until I made the salesman grab one out of another GXP that I had test driven. The cargo net IS a factory item and should be in the trunk, so if that is mising have them provide one.

Buzz, I know the gas mileage burns your butt. As a new guy I have read thru most of the GXP posts and have noted your displeasure. I dirve mine pretty hard getting every ounce of sport sedan out of the engine and suspension. I drive to and from work on an interstate system that the speed limit will get you run over so I run at 80-85mph for 40 miles each way just to keep up. I am pretty aggressive with the gas pedal around town because I like to hear the exhaust rumble. I have put four tanks of gas in my car at $39 a pop in the first two weeks. I have tracked my mileage both on the DIC and by doing the "math in anger"... with all of that going on I am getting 18 almost 19 mpg. IF you are really getting less than 16 I would have to say you have a problem... if you are not drving it hard (honestly) then something is not right. My other vehicle is an 03 Silverado 1500 2WD 5.3L that gets 17mpg. All that being said... I did a little math experiment... the difference between 17mpg and 24 mpg is le$$ than a tank of gas difference a month. I'm just glad that my budget can support the extra fuel cost.

The air kit is supposed to be in the car. They are neat to have so who knows who hesits them, test drivers, salespeople, mechanics pre-oping them etc.

Thank you for your information on the mileage, do me a favor and try to get less than 16 MPG on 3 consecutive tanks of fuel, then you will understand how my wife with my kids in the car would have to drive it to be there. Really, if you can get 18 at 80 plus.. Imagine less than 16. I have a lifted 4x4 2000, extended cab with the 5.3 that gets 13 plus at 80 and has about 70k on it. Hell, our stock Yukon got 14 plus. I am still waiting on owners to tell me how their rotors are wearing too. My Bonne has about 9k miles on it and has 2 to 3 times the wear on the rotors as my truck. When it goes in to the dealer tomorrow I am going to have them see if the calipers are releasing properly. You are the first person using a US measured gallon of gas getting these numbers that I can recall so don't let the dealer touch it as they will surely screw it up.
