Default Brakes

Great forum you all have here.

Just looking to see if anyone else out there is getting a lot of squeaking from their front brakes on their gxp. I'm up to around 4,000 miles and the squeaking started at about the 2,500 mile mark. I was thinking it would go away after a bit, but it'* still there. It'* an unusually loud squeak that usually happens when brakes need replacing.

I want to take it back to the dealer and have it checked, but I don't want to hear their classic response... "these are high performance brakes and you'll have to live with it".

Thanks in advance.

I just noticed mine doing the same thing, I have just over 5000 miles on it and noticed the squeaks a few weeks ago. I am thinking of going to ceramic pads(not sure what kind are on there now) but ceramics usually don't squeak. Anyone else have this problem?

Default Squeaky Brakes here too

Mine started squeaking after just a few hundred miles. I'm also getting noises from the shocks or something in the suspension.

I'll tell you all what...I'm going to take it in the dealer when I have some time probably next week and see what'* up with it. Then I'll let you know how it went and what they said.

Default Brake squeal

I've got the same thing. I don't remember exactly when the brakes started squealing but it was pretty low mileage. I also get lots of brake dust. I now have 8,000 miles and still get the same thing. I had my car into the dealer for an oil change at 7,500 miles and mentioned it then. He gave me the classic high performance brake response, but did agree to try to repair it. He turned the rotors, "scuffed" the rotors, and applied "anti-squeal" which is some sort of lubricant. Since then they definitely still squeal so it didn't solve the problem. They do seem to make a little less noise than before, but it'* so close it'* tough to tell if it helped at all.

I have the same problem, except my rear brakes are the ones that squeak. It sounds like the right rear is the worst. I havnt noticed my front wheels squeaking though. When I had this car in the shop one of the many times I asked them to look at it, but as most everyone else here has said "they are preformance brakes, they do that." I just turned 3700 miles.

Is anyone else dissapointed in their GXP? I know I am... shoulda bought the TL...

LOL, @ the TL...poser mobile (never was fond of it)

Best part about the GXP is revving it up at an intersection and scaring the crap out of the guy beside you. Then when he tries to race, you just calmly cruise. You can't get any magical note out of the TL.

Anyway, onto brakes. I love the feel of these brakes first of all! They are just so positive and it doesn't take much pressure on the pedal to really clamp down on those 14" front rotars. Things I don't like....
1. BRAKE DUST!!! Holy crap that stuff comes out on the fronts like there'* no tomorrow. I'll clean the wheels one day and there will be dust there again in 2 days. It'* getting kind of annoying but I think that ceramic pads might solve this issue.
2. SQUEAK: Started at about 3000 miles and has decreased from then. I'm pretty sure it was in a back break and only squeaked under minimal brake pressure. It'* going away though so it might have just been some dust particle or something lodged in the pad.

Overall, excellent brakes. One of the best parts of the car.

lol, TL.

Count me among those with the sqeaking brakes. I have almost 10K miles on my GXP now and the brakes (mostly the left front from what I can tell) have squaked since I can remember - probably since the first couple of weeks I had the car.

My brakes are quiet... nanr nanr I bet you guys thought all I could do was gripe about the car. I'll get back to that later just to keep my rep intact. For now though, I was noticing today at 7000 miles that my front rotors already a lip on them from the pads wearing in. It'* nothing major (1/32 maybe) but surprising to me. My newfound fuel efficient truck at 60k miles has little wear on the rotors. My truck stops nicely, but I would trade some wear for the brakes the Bonne has. Have I told you what a fuel hog my bonne is? Just wondering...
