Brushed Aluminum
All GXP owners.
I really like the brushed aluminum accents on the GXP especially the one on top of the shifter and the ones on the inside door opener handles. Was just curious if these pieces are stick on'* or is there a cavity cut out to fit these. If they are stick on'*, I want to get some for my '00 SSEI.
Thanks for your help.

GXP'* have a cutout on the top of shifter so the aluminum piece can locate itself.

It may look nice but it will scratch very easily and look like crap very soon.
They should have used chrome.
Aluminum heats up quite a bit if in the sunlight. My Firebird aluminum hurst T shifter gets so hot I can barely touch it sometimes.

We have an 05 GXP at the local dealer, and it already has a dent and several scratches on the shifter. I'd demand it be replaced before purchase. Then I'd custom cut one out of stainless with a laser to replace it. It was a cool looking addition, but not a practical idea.
I prefer the 2k shifter. I still run it in my 93.

Tip: Don't wear any rings on your right hand while driving.
I just noticed acouple weeks ago my shifter is all dinged up from my class ring. Now, I have to remember to take it off whenever I drive, since that'* where I naturally rest my hand and I can't keep myself from tapping my finger.

The leather wrapped steering wheel and the carbon fiber accents will scratch if you aren't careful... not wearing rings is a good call. If you wear rings or don't watch yourself you'd probably scratch up stainless as well... as far as heating up in the sun, I live in Florida and haven't noticed any discomfort. Then again my car is a light color and the windows have 20% tinitng so that may help.
