Default 4.4 vs 4.6 issue.

Don't know if any of you have see this yet...

go to www.pontiac.com

Click on 'bonneville' on the left side of the screen.

Scrolldown to the SSEI.

In the SSEI grey box, Click on 'get complete specs'

Brings up a detail screen that if you scrolldown again, which details the GXP instead of the SSEI. It details the features of the GXP, including having 275 HP. BUT if your scrolldown just a little farther to the 'gas milage' shows a 3.8 V6 and a 4.6 V8!

Does that finally answer the question?

Some of links don't even work yet, ie try clicking on the 275 HP link.

Sorry if this isn't new news.

How can it be a debate if it'* on their website?

They must be updating the page for the 04 year, and I can't imagine that they accidentially added .2 liters....

The press releases posted are from November of last year, and this seems pretty fresh. I know when i looked at this page a short while ago, it still had the SSEI on the detail page.

I talked with a local dealer and there was one ordered and it was a 4.6l.

I am sure they wouldn’t tell the customer it was a 4.6 if it was a 4.4.

LOL

All the recent stuff I've seen shows 4.6 also. It must be so.

Well this is good news, more displacement means more mod potential. Hopefully it'll be easy to retune back up to northstar level.

it is a northstar though! not sure what you mean by tweak it to northstar level.

oh yeah, as said in a few other posts the 275hp engine combined with the 3.71'*.....should be faster than a 2003 STS. taylor posted the dyno graphs. Only the peak on the 300hp is better, all along the graph the 275 one makes more hp and torque up untill the high high rpms were the 300hp keeps climbing. it was a big thing to reach that magical 300hp mark, they screwed the cams up to much and made a car that you had to drive like you hated it to reach its potential.

Ty, you gonna give our first GXP member a discount on TWINS?

I can hear his mind grinding from 600 miles north! I think it'* safe to assume at this point that it will be 4.6.
