I know that there have been a few topics of water in the spare tire well and know we can add my GXP to the long list. I found it today while doing a little spring cleaning. I guess I will have to keep my eye on it.

This is an unfortunate problem. The trunk can be a particularly difficult area to diagnose and resolve.

Water may enter:

1. Around the main seal.
2. Around the CHMSL lens.
3. Around the threaded studs that hold the rear aplique on.
4. Around the plastic clips that hold the top corners of the rear applique on.
5. Around the tops of the rear shock towers.
6. Around the tail light studs.
7. Around the lock cylinder.
8. Around the studs that secure the rear spoiler to the trunk lid.
9. Around the fuel tank door lock solenoid (if equipped).

and so on...

There is still some getting into my car that I haven't been able to track down yet

There is a TSB that specifically refers to the CHMSL housing among others.

When I removed all of the carpeting I could see a trail of dirt heading up to the back seat on the drivers side. I may try and pull it all apart today and see what I can find.

I'll be very interested in hearing what you find. I have that very same finding in mine

I'm wondering if it is the drain tubes for the sunroof. It could be that one is clogged or not hooked up and it is draining into the trunk. I don't think I will get to mine today. I live in an apartment and it may be a little to involved to do without a garage and the proper tools.

Mine almost looked like it was coming from the top of the left shock tower. I'm going to have a closer look in a couple of weeks. I did have one leak on the right side at one of the sheet metal seams. The shop sealed things up again from the inside and outside under warranty.

I had mine coming from the passenger side and it was the top of the shock tower. Pull the plastic cover off and see if it looks wet. Was it a dirty trail? If it was, it'* not the moon roof.

This is all rather ironic since the 2004 Bonneville sales brochure states:

"To help eliminate water leaks, more than a thousand gallons of water are sprayed at high intensity from every possible angle, checking the triple seals that surround Bonneville'* passenger compartment"

Guess they should have used a little more water :?

It is a dirty trail, I will have to get into one weekend soon and check out the top of the shock tower. Thanks for the info.
