Brake pad life
I saw a couple topics on brakes and was wondering how many miles the GXP should get on the original brakes? I typically get at least 60,000 miles on that first OEM set.
I saw a couple recommendations for NAPA ceramics... any other recommendations? Dare I mention DuraLast Ceramic?
It looks like replacement rotors are pretty expensive; $103/pc at AutoZone.

Why do you say best, John? Personal preference? Or data your not sharing. I was wondering because I have seen no side by side comparision data, or feedback from members who have used several brands. I cant tell you what kind of mileage to expect on the OEM'* Zee. I changed my OEM pads out early. I used the NAPA Carbon/Ceramic for both my changes. The first set lasted 23,000 miles. Alot of real high speed breaking, all very rural driving with steep grades, and they had some life left. I heard a squeal and thought it was the "wear tab" but it wasnt. Changed them anyways since I bought them and had the car up. The rotors really wore with the Ceramix pads, but on the plus side, I did not have the rotors turned, and they are fine with the new pads with no pulsing. I will change them for new with the next set of pads. BTW @ 25,000 miles, the OEM rears still look good and havent dusted my chrome wheels the way the front ones did.

I say the best OE choice, in my opinion from personal experience. I have tried duralast, napa, raybestos, so forth and so on, I warped them ALL. I make very frequent, emergency deer stops. Had the bendix pads and rotors on my 89 since last august and with HUNDREDS of insane stops...no warping. And best of all, MINIMAL pad wear.
I'm back again with the same issue on the 93. They replaced the brakes on it right before I bought it. No idea on the brand, but they're certainly not bendix. They were new on August 30th...I've done maybe 20 emergency stops since I've had the car...one of the tangs is already screeching and the WARPING is at INSANE levels. I am HIGHLY confident that if I replaced them with all bendix products, that would no longer be the case.
No personal experience with the GXP'* brakes of course, but I can't imagine that they would be worse.

Just got my GXP back with the new ceramic braqke pads from Napa and I have to say there is a difference. I had only 28,000 miles on the brakes and they wore out! Given the car is an emergency vehicle and is driven pretty hard. The dealer had no problem putting them on at no charge and hopefully the brake dust issue will be less

I've got 40,000 miles so far, so I better go take a look. No pulsing so far. Had pulsing on my Impala and never could really get rid of it completely.
