Vibration from Rear Suspension? Maybe the Interior?
I have a 2004 GXP w/ 33,000 that I just purchased 2 1/2 weeks ago and I am hearing a slight knocking noise. It happens when ever I initially backup or when I pull away from a stop as well as over bumps and it kind of turns into a creaking noise when I pull in and out of my driveway. I am thinking it is something in the driverside rear suspension or something on the interior of the car when the body torques. Anyone have something similar occur on their GXP? Any ideas what it is? I already checked the spare tire and jack, they are secure. I'm stumped!

If it is in the steering it could be the intermediate shaft.
If it is the engine bay, could be a broken mount.
If it occurs after lots of Smirnoff, could be a lil ole Leprechaun
I went bat-sheet crazy trying to locate a noise in my 96 SSE and found out it was....my four way banging against the spare tire!
In other words, it could be anything...more details about where will help.

with only 33,000, id find it hard to believe you have any suspension or brake problems. anythings possible tho.
maybe check for little stuff, like "two bonnies" said.

Thanks for the responses. It is definitely coming from the drivers side rear of the car. I did some searches yesterday and found one that sounded similar to what mine is doing. The post I found was about a loose rear strut mount which is located almost exactly where I am hearing the noise (divers side upper rear quarter panel). I am making an appointment wi th the dealer today because I am of course having some brake caliper issues and I also found 2 1/2 inches of water in my spare tire well after trying to chase down this rattle. I'm thining it also maybe the rear spring that maybe just hasn't seen enough use because it sat on my dealers lot for 4 months after rusting in Michigan for the last 3 years. Well hopefully Mr. Badwrench can figure it out, doubt it!
