Default Tail/Brakelamp Replacement

Has anyone had to replace their rear tail/brake lamp yet? I am asking because it seems to me to be a real pain! The rear set of lights are in some sort of base that holds all the bulbs in one assembly for rear lights (back-up, blinker, tail, and brake). There are three nuts you remove to pull the base out. The thing is, it appears there is some super strong "sealer" or caulk type substance that holds that base in place. It'* almost as if they never thought you would have to replace a bulb. I just want to know if anyone else has this sealer stuff or if it was put in because my car was being purchased overseas.

I may just take it to the dealer to have them do it along with an oil change and tire rotation. Any thoughts?

I replaced the bulbs in my 2002 SSEI and found the same thing. You will need to pull or pry out one side at a time. Once it was free it just popped out all at once, hanging by the wire harness. Put a tiny scratch in the bumper. Have someone hold onto the tailight assembly while you pry it away with a putty knife.

Ok, after looking over everything again, it was actually very easy to change the rear light bulbs. Once the 3 bolts are removed from inside the trunk, the entire taillight lens assembly comes out from the outside! I had thought the assemble came out from inside the trunk. But you pull the lens assemble away from the car. So I didn't need to cut the sealer stuff. Replaced the bulb and all is OK. So, don't worry people about having to change light bulbs. Well at least the rear ones! Now to get my headlights aligned! Regards from Berlin!
