Anyone know a good, reliable place to get decent cheap new tires for the GXP - (235 50 18 )? Anyone come across any great deals out there that they want to share with the rest of us?

So far, looks like Sam'* Club is the best deal that I've found. They curently have BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDWS for $114 a tire here in Eastern Iowa. They do not carry them in stock, but can order them and have them in a couple days. You can get them mounted, balanced, old disposed, Lifetime balancing, lifetime rotation, free flat repair, road hazard, etc for a total of $555 for everything. Anyone know of a better deal?

Yes. I did a couple hours of research on the internet and looked at a bunch of different sites - especially all the "common" ones that I know of like tire rack and discount tire and even eBar, and I found a bunch of new ones, but so far Sam'* has come out on top for price (and its even a "brand name" tire - not something that I've never heard of).

Danthurs, Thats cool. Glad you found a deal. I am not having as good of luck. Sam'* is "currently" the best deal I found. I have been told by many friends that these websites have good deals, but so far, I am not finding any better deals than I can get locally going retail. Am I missing something? Were the tires you bought from tire rack 18 inch wheels? Or maybe, do these websites run specials from time to time? Or is there a "Clearance Rack" on these sites somewhere that I cannot seem to find?

Here is the current list of 235 50 18 tires and the cheapest is $126 and if you buy 4, you get $50 off, so they come out to around $114 each, same as Sam'*. Oh, You have to still pay shipping, so they would be more expensive.

I would like to think that if I go "local" with a well known box store with a good reputation that if something goes wrong with the tires, I could go right back to Sam'* instead of dealing with a website. So, I am leaning towards Sams.

Ya those KDWS'* were on sale forever at $82. I just checked over there and they doubled in price. I could kick myself for not stocking up with another full set. I wouldn't pay $169 for them. Great tire, good traction on the pavement WOT and in the rain. Just OK on snow. It'* a "soft rubber" tire though. I only got 15,000 on first set in front, and looks like thats about all I'm going to get on the second set. Of course the I only got 19,000 before the belts were showing on the RSa'*. The nitrous tank makes me here voices. LOL They tell me to light em up everytime I pass a ricer. Funny, at 39,000 the rear OEM tires still have tread.

Hah! That is funny. "Wierd" how you are only getting 15,000 miles on a set of front tires, but the rears are still going strong. You really should have stocked up when they were $82. You should have rented a mini-storage shed and filled it with $82 tires. I hope they run a special on these tires soon on one of these websites.

Thanks for the input on the how the tires handle in dry, wet, snow, etc. Nice to know know what the tires are "like" before you buy a set. 2 years ago I switched from a regular tire which rode fine on my Grand Prix to a high priced Michelin Aqua Tread tire. They were very expensive and although they "looked" cool with the v-shaped tread and everything and they actually handled very well, they rode absolutely terrible cause they were so stiff. I could suddenly feel every single little bump and imperfection in the road with the expensive tires. I decided I would beat them up til they needed to be replaced, then go back to the cheaper regular road tires. Luckily, I sold the car before that happened and then bought a Bonny GXP. Now, I need tires for this car.

OK, I did some research to find the best deal on 235 50 18 tires. Heres what I thought were "currently" the best deals.

#1. ONLINETIRES.COM They have a set of 4) 235 50 18 BF Goodrich g-Force for $78 / tire. Unfortunately their shipping charges are almost double what everyone else'* is and I could not get them to budge at all on shipping. Even so, with shipping, they were still the cheapest I found on "a" set of tires. These may not be top of the line and may not be exactly what you are looking for, but that is cheap for a set of 4 brand new all-season tires. $408 shipped to my door makes these $102 a tire. #2. Dubs and Tires on eBay Here is the link I just found tonight on a set of Toyo'*. $362 for tires and $40 to $55 for shipping makes these tires around $100 to $105 a tire.

Again, these prices are good today, but tomorrow, they might not be or another set or brand of tire may go on sale or offer a rebate to make them a better deal or something, so do your research.

You need to be real careful about buying tires online. I did once and got tires that were over a year old when I got them. Doesn't sound "new" to me. I'm sure they started dry rotting while sitting in whatever warehouse they were in. There is a code on the side of the tire that shows what week and year they were made. When I bought my wifes tires in March of last year I told them I would check the dates before I paid for them. He tried to sell me a tire that was 2 years old, swearing up and down they were brand new. I told him if he wanted the sale, he was to get 4 tires with dates of no older than 8 weeks of this date. Long story short he got them but wasn't very happy. I could give a rats @$$ if he was happy or not. The code is right by the sidewall where the bead is. An ex: is "408" would be the fourth week of 2008. "1208" would be 12th week of 2008. The code is inside a circle by the bead. I'll get a pic to show soon.

Given everything Id go with the Sams club so you can keep it local and have the perks to add on... you dont get those with online stores so that saves you if you have a nail or bubble or anything its covered thru Sams

AND as with the dates... you can look on each tire to find out the date and all that but honestly if the tire has ALL the lil rubber doo-dads on them, and shows signs of NEVER being on the road, or mounted... doesnt matter the age... its still a NEW tire
