I don't remember seeing this posted anywhere on here so I'll share my little tidbit of info I have acquired. I had the factory fog light harness replaced in May. I checked the light before I left the dealership and both fog lights were on and functioning. Once I got home the driver side lamp was out again so I took it back up to the dealership and the SA tells me it wasn't the harness that was bad it is the fog light housing. The housing is what keeps the fog light grounded and when it comes loose the fog light doesn't work. So once again i don't remember seeing this on here and for anyone who may still be having fog light problems this could be your problem. I would still recommend having the harness replaced though.

I also had the wiring harness replaced. They held the car overnight, when they discovered that the burned out bulb also had a damaged housing. Seems that the OEM harness can cause the projector bulbs to overheat to the point that the housing warps or shatters, causing water intrusion and then shorts.

I am having the same problem right now. I had the harness replaced as soon as I got the car and I have already had 2 bulbs burn out in the last 2 months. I have to take it in for an oil change so I will bring up the housing part. Luckily my SA is a good friend of mine so I normally get things done pretty easily.

yeah....these cars eat foglight bulbs like i've never seen before. I had the harness replaced right when that became available in '05 and it didn't really change anything. I had 2-3 burn out before that and at least 4 since. I wish they would find a fix and do a recall. I've become pretty efficient at changing them myself now.....headlight assembly out and bulb replaced in about 15 min. Ah well....the car has otherwise been solid for almost 100k miles.

Yeah the only car I had that went through bulbs faster was my Aurora. On my GXP the wiring harness update seem to sold the problem. This housing thing in news to me.

I am going through it right now also. Its been a week since Pontiac order the bulb and still is not in. If this thing goes out I am going to be pissed because I told pontiac about the Harness. I will also have them check the assembly

it doesn't take them much time either to change the housing. I waited on it for maybe 20 to 30 minutes

I had my harnesses replaced very soon after getting the car and since that time I have not changed a fog bulb. And I use them alot. The key was that I forced the dealership to change the harness on BOTH sides. They were only going to replace the driver'* side.

thats interesting two bonnies, I dont know if they changed both of mine. its a tsb so if i have problems down the road after the warranty is up it'll still be covered right?

I wish. No. you won't be. The only time they will cover it fully if it were their error. So for instance, they knew they had to replace BOTH and only replaced one. I asked that very same question to the service manager and he said "if the tsb only says replace the bad harness and the other one causes problems later (after warranty), then it'* your problem". That'* when I insisted they replace both.

!But be warned!

They won't "just do it" for you. I had to actually demonstrate the problem in person before they would fix it. That meant taking in a pocket full of bulbs and showing them that even after they replaced the drivers side harness it still blew bulbs. They believed me, I am guessing, because I actually sat there and showed them that it still blew the bulb. At some point I must have sounded authoritative enough about the wiring because they went ahead and replaced the passenger'* side. Guess what? No problems since. Does this mean they'll believe the next GXP owner with the same problem? HAIL NO.
