Those pre-production highly polished wheels were sweet! Anyone ever see a source for them or find a way to get a set? What company would have made them up for GM? Thanks in advance for any info you guys can provide.

They are really nice looking rims. Are the ones on the GP GXP similar at all?

Thanks '1993 SLE' for the info as it was enough to lead me to them. They are actually Mille Miglia EVO 5'*. I have come across a couple vendors that show them to still be available and the pricing isn't bad either - but they have all been outside the US. They show them to be available in a variety of sizes including 18x8 or 18x9. I would go with the 18x9 as long as there are no clearance issues. Then a set of Cooper Zeon 2XS tires in a 255 or 265 or 275/35/18 depending on clearance issues as well as all 3 sizes are available. And the Cooper Zeon 2XS is an Ultra High Performance tire that really delivers awesome driving characteristics.

I emailed one of the vendors to confirm availabilty and pricing. They are in Vancouver, BC Canada.

Be carefull of the clearance issue Daytona. My 9"'ers would not have cleared with the stock strut with the wide "skirt' that almost hits the tire with a stock wheel. My air struts are much smaller in diameter there . Usually the wheel suppliers have a list of what will clear and what wont. I had to take a second choice because mine were out of country and didnt want to wait.

Default tire profile

I think that may depend on the Mfr, style and profile. I had a 275 Kumho on my SSeI, and they just barely cleared. Of course, I never hit an Autocross circuit or anything over 120 in that car, so that may make or break you...

I think this car looks way hot with as wide and low as you can get away with...

Woot! I finally found a copy of the pre-production GXP wheels in Chrome! I found the Mille Miglia EVO 5'* - but they only come in bright silver much like the stock production GXP wheels. Not enough difference between the two wheels to go through the hassle and expense of switching them out. They were only going to be about $1,300 shipped though plus installation.

The chromed wheels I came across are made by ZNA Alloy Wheels and are available at Pep Boys of all places. They are an exact duplicate of the pre-production GXP wheel but Chromed rather than polished. I have seen them in person and they look very nice and the price is flat-out unbelievable! A full set of 18'* are... (drum roll) $599!
No, that is not a typo - $599.00 Woot!

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I am writing my letter to Santa right after I finish this...Ha!
