Aiming headlights
Does anyone know how to correctly adjust and aim 2004 or 2005 GXP headlights? I know there is a screw to adjust up and down pattern but what about left to right. I recently installed a HID kit I found on EBAY that all.

How do you like the HID kit?
How much was it? How easy was it to install? You may be best to have a dealer do the alignment. They have special mechanism. |
The kit was $220.00 and took like 10 minutes to install with no cutting at all. Looks reallyu good since our lenses are clear but those metal difusers that cover the bulbs leave a glare shadow on the road in fron of you which is a bit distracting.

I drove my new Bonneville in the dark for the first time, and the driver's side headlight was pointing skyward by a mile. OK, maybe a few feet. Well, when parked about 8 feet in front of the garage door the left side was 4 inches higher than the right. And that was enough to really light up the inside of that poor van in front of me.
The adjuster is a torx head screw that turns pretty easy. Chances are pretty good that your average car owner will not have the correct Torx socket. You could use a pair of pliers (please don't!). But a regular 7mm (6point) socket worked very well for me. And here's a picture for those who are looking for the adjuster. Attachment 69656 |
dont do in that driveway!

well the first thing you do is take out the HID bulbs that are NOT designed to go into halogen housings. Then when you get projectors you worry about aiming them.

You noticed the driveway, huh. You're right, there's not a level spot on it anywhere.
It was real foggy tonight so I had a pretty good idea that the right lamp was OK, so I just matched them. I got a couple good pictures of the Z and the GXP. I can't get over how hard it can be to get a decent picture of a freaking car. The sig was fairly simple. I have an old copy of Adobe PhotoDeluxe. I looked for a side/side adjuster, but didn't see anything. My side to side seemed to be OK, so I didn't look too hard. Besides, it's 36 degrees. The owner's manual doesn't have much to say about adjusting the headlights. I almost bought a cranberry... it looks good. I'll bet it's as cold in Pa as your sig looks. I see that I beat you in joining the Forum by a few days... Welcome! |

Driver's Side headlight
My driver's side headlight has been aiming high also. Thanks for the tip on getting it lowered! I went to the GM dealer here in Germany but they didn't have the right equipment to adjust it. Apparently German spec cars have different systems for aining their lights. Ours spread out and theirs go to a point. He showed me on the aiming equipment he was using. Again, appreciate the tip!
