99 Intrigue, buy it or not???
I work at a car dealership and we have a 99 Intrigue with 36,000 miles on it and I can take it for about 7500. But there are a couple of things wrong with it and I don't know what they are. The steering makes a weird clunking sound whenever I turn the wheel and it feels really loose, the brakes are awful bad and vibrate a lot when pushed on the pedal (maybe just the rotors?), and the tranny seems to shift really hard. I am almost wondering if the people traded it in to get rid of their problems?! Does anyone know if these happen to be any known major problems with these cars? Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance. :D

From Edmunds
See its the new Aurora Jr The car that the detectives drive in the movie is a silver 1999 Intrigue, with the all-new 3.5-liter twin cam V6 engine under the hood. With roots derived from the Aurora V8 premium engines, Oldsmobile has upped the ante in terms of power and performance in its hot-selling sedan. The 3.5-liter twin cam engine will be available at the beginning of the 1999 model year on the GLS trim level only. By year's end, the 3800 V6 engine that currently powers the Intrigue will be phased out and replaced by the premium 24-valve V6 as standard equipment on all models. The new engine will be exclusive to the Intrigue in 1999. |
I never knew they had 3800's before. What's the hp & tq on the 3.5 V6 twin cam?

Hope I'm not being a pain
A neighbor across the street from me has one and I've always wondered what they had in 'em. They aren't bad looking cars, especially in black. Of course they're modeled after the Aurora, but the Rora is FAR better looking! :D |
