Was it a black liquid? May have been gas soaked carbon from the misfire.

yeah I think it was pretty black, wiped old plug with a paper towel and it all turned black.....

does anyone know the part number for an individual coil pack and not the 4 pack assembly?

89056799 is not it as I found out when it arrived today

Ya no PVC valve. We have had several of the individual coils go bad on these LD8'* and cause the symptoms noted.

Not sure they can be bought by the piece, I'll check around

89056799 is old coil that doesn't fit the LD8

89017778 is what you want. Rock Auto is having a closeout on them for $98. 4 pack..... welcome to modular parts scheme'ing. At $98, itz a bargain. It shows as D593A in their online catalog.

vennom is that the delco version that rock is selling? I know about the 4 piece unit, I am hoping to find a single....

ordered the last one rock had, that will give me 3 singles as spares.... since I'll take out the front four and put one of them in to the 6 spot.....

YA, the Delco one. I say bargain because the off brand is over $200. I really doubt you will find a single coil. I have looked extensively for such an animal. No Luck. They are made/sold as a modular unit.
