CD player Clicking
I have a 94SE with the single disc CD player. Sometimes, actually most of the time, I put a CD in and I hear a rhytmic clicking and eventually an "err" on the display.
Would this indicate the CD player lens is dirty or doies it sound like something more mechanical.
Sometime the disc plays on insertion but not very often.
I may just get a new aftermarket unit as I hat not being able to play CD'*.

our 95 SSE did this too. It would take cd'* in, make a constand steady clicking noise about two a second and it wouldn't play. Sometimes it would just keep clicking and it wouldnt' even eject the cd. IMO the stock units are built EXTREMELY cheap..

CD Player Clicking
Clicks are about 1 per second. It does it even when the temp is 70F. I think I will just end up going aftermarket as the cost to get the CD player repaired would be a whole lot more than buying a new aftermarket unit and installing it myself.
Sometimes it won't eject the CD immediately when I press "eject". It eventually does but I'm guessing from responses that aftermarket is the way to go. I'll keep the original radio to reinstall for looks if I shouldever sell the car.
Thanks,
Mike

mine seemed to be a little more weather caused, but i just could deal with it not working sometimes.

Recommendations for Aftermarket Stereo
I will be replacing my stock CD player in my 94 SE. Does anybody ahve a recommendation for a good basic AM/FM/CD player unit that would fit in the space and wire up easily. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles - just basic.
Could even be a n AM-FM-CD-Cassette too.
Thanks,
