Phone Unavailable
Not sure if this is the right spot. Did the search thing, and came up snake eyes.
Every time I get into my 05 GXP, the radio says "phone unavailable". Anyone have any insight as to what that is for?
Thanks,
Tony

Does the 05 GXP have bluetooth in the entertainment system, or could there possibly be an after market radio system with bluetooth? Sounds like the previous owner set the system to link with his cell phone. If this is the case, you should be able to reprogram the system to turn bluetooth recognition off, or to recognize your cell phone (if your cell phone is bluetooth capable).
Of course, I could be completely wrong and one of the tech guys will chime in with a completely different response. My response is based more on knowing what some of the latest entertainment systems can do, rather than knowing what system is in your car.

Okay, I think I was wrong. The 05 does not have bluetooth. It does however have an internal phone that allows you to make calls, contact Onstar, etc. Perhaps that phone is not functioning.

Ya, the GXP has telephone service through OnStar/Verizon. You have to be an OnStar subscriber first, then buy blocks of minutes from OnStar @ 100 minutes per $39.95. If you have a Verizon cell phone and are an OnStar subscriber ($18.95/month), you can use Verizon minutes through your plan for an additional fee.
