Where is the best/easiest place to install an FM Modulator inline with the antenna wire? It was easy when I did it on my 96 under the dash. Where is the easiest access where I can unplug an antenna wire and put a FM Modulator inline?

Any advise or direction would be appreciated.

Has nobody installed an FM modulator on a 2k? I just need to know where the joints are for the antenna connections and then I can figure out the best place to install the modulator. Or is there a wiring diagram anywhere? I have the Bose CD/Cass system. No factory changer.

What are you using this FM Modulator for, I know it'* not the answer you are looking for, but just wondering....

I have a 12 disk CD changer from JVC that also plays MP3 CD'* it hooks up through an FM modulator. I had it in my 96 and I was going to move it over. I bought it for the 96 because that CD player got an error code on it and it was cheaper than replacing the stereo.

There is a coaxial cable that runs down the passenger side 'A' post. Just after it starts across the dash towards the radio there is an inline connector (assuming the 2001 is the same as the 2002 and later). You will need to remove the dash pad to access it. It will be between the passenger side airbag and the windshield. You may want to try this. Be careful while working around the SIR components. Disable them accordingly. You should be able to get directions for this either in Techinfo or the sample data section of All Data online.

This may help depending on what connectors you have to work with. Be careful about routing so as not to interfere with the airbag deployment.

Most cars have a join in the antenna wire in a couple of places, usually behind the glove box area or in the passenger side kick, and one usually within a couple of feet of the antenna.

If I were you I would drop the glove box and look for one there or pull the radio and fasten the switching box in behind the glove box.

There is no access to the antenna coax by removing the glovebox in the 2K+ Bonneville. After descending from the headliner at the passenger side 'A' post, it runs across the top of the dash (underneath the dash pad) to the mid-point of the vehicle where it again descends to the back of the radio bay. These cars have two antennas, both which are part of the front and rear glass. From the single in-line connection in the dash, the coax runs to the antenna module located above the headliner in front of the rear window. These radios use the Dock-N-Lock system. Because of this, there is also no easy way to access the back of the radio for this type of connection.

Here is a photo looking through the windshield on the passenger side. The dashpad has been removed. You can see the coax running in front of the airbag.

My bad.........I forgot about the double glass antennas.

I was thinking that it had the regular body antenna and one rear glass antenna.
