Subs, 2 midrange vs 1 highend?
What is better? 2 decent subs -> say 300 watt OR 1 great sub -> say 600 watt?
Since my stereo was so graciously "relocated" by some SOB, I need to get another one and I want to do it right. I listen to everything from DMX - > Korn -> Linkin Park -> UPO -> just about most types of music. I want something that will sound good no matter what I am listening too. Whatever it is it will be in a custom made sub box made to fit the trunk contuor.

Depends on whether you want tight clean bass or loud boomy bass.
Two are always better than one when it comes to loudness but you need clean power to drive them. Not all amps are equal even if they are rated at the same wattage output.
A 3 dB increase in sound level is a doubling of sound intensity and it takes twice as much power.
If not 1000 watts for two subs than stay with one sub and give it some good clean power.....like around 600 watts.

If you want a good sounding clean loud sub... I would suggest a set of 10" Kicker CVR'*. They hit everything from and Bass Guitar Solo to a Gangsta Rap Beat. I have a set of the Kicker Comps and they sound awesome when I am listening to any type of music.

Hey gordy, look at some Fosgate Punch HX2 (500w) or even the POWER HX2 (1000w) They slam, and are very tight. Work well for rock IMHO, and have some in my friends 91 Firebird.
