Some head unit questions.
Anyone have any pros/cons on JVC head units? I've always had Pioneer up until now and liked them. I'd like to put a double-din in my SSEi and would like to keep the dash clean but pioneer doesn't have one that I'd put in the dash.
What all is needed so that I don't lose my chimes and anything related to the factory HU? And I know i'd need another module to keep the steering wheel controls. Here'* what I am lookin at.

Here'* Pioneer'* offering, I'm not so big on the green backlights... Oh wait, my car is green, maybe it would be ok...

I'm in the very beginning stages of planning a carputer, so I've actually been doing a lot or research on the Data Bus in the back of our HU'*.

This article is great for describing how our system works, although I'm not sure if our cars have a class 1 or 2 data bus system.
So, as that article describes, PAC makes a bunch of different adapters. Or this one is availible from walmart:

I could be wrong on some of this, although I'm sure some other members can provide a little more in-depth info (I'd like to know a little more too! ).[/url]

From the looks of everything I would need the following modules to keep everything working...
PAC SWI-X for steering wheel controls
Metra GMOS-09 for chimes, RAP, etc
Correct?

Yes, that is the correct module for the steering wheel controls, but just remember that works on an IR interface, so your new head unit has to have a remote.

Do the 2000+ Bonnies need an install kit for a double-din head unit or should it just bolt in? This is with proper modification to the dash support of course.
