Idea for sub location....
Hey gang, I got an idea for a sub location... I was diggin' aroung in my trunk today and noticed the black panel behind the back seat is just sort of stuck on there with magnets.
What I am considering doing is making a template and mouting the sub so that it fires through the pass through into the cabin of the car. I would go ahead and finish a box for it of course. Myself I don't forsee any problems arising with the sound, but, I would like some other opinions before I do it.
Thanks,
Tim

Make sure you leave some room between the sub and the pass through. TaylorD did this with 2 W7'*, one on each side, and lit up red back there. BAD ***.
One other thing you can do, is build the box to fit the space, run the specs in a box building program, figure out your port length, and run the port into the pass through, leaving the sub firing into the trunk.

One thing to consider about ports though - they are tuned to a specific frequency, through calculations relating to diameter and length of the tube. You would have strong bass around the frequency where it is tuned, instead of flatter frequency response of a sealed or proper ported box. You also potentially have the "huffing" wind noise that ports introduce. I guess it all depends how much of a bass head you are.

take that box and turn it around.. fire the ports into the trunk with the woofers facing the pass-thru. That will negate any port huffing (if you use enough port area, you wont have that problem anyway).
