Default CD stuck in 2002SE

CD in player when car died and failed to keep running after jump start because battery died suddenly. Car towed to dealer and sat in HOT SUN for day and a half before battery was replaced. Is there any way to coax the CD out without having to pull the radio/tape/cd unit? How tough is it to pull the unit? In looking at the dash it seems like a bear. Any and all suggestions welcomed.

Thanks,

Its not hard at all to pull out the unit. You take the front plastic piece off by eveningly pulling on it and then pull out the unit I cant recall if there is screws that you need to take off first before you pull the unit I believe there is.

you have to remove 2 screws that are above your dash. look past your steering wheel and then up if you understand what im saying. those are where the screws are. remove those and then you'll be able to take off the plastic that covers the radio & A/C controls

install an aftermarket HU while you're at it

They are NOT screws!! They are plastic fasteners kinda like rivets. You need to press the center section inward (up) about 1/16 to 3/32 of an inch and then gently pry out the rivet. To reinstall, press the center pin out through the top completely. Then install the rivet without the center pin and then insert the pin so it is flush.

Thanks for your replies. I think I found the two fastners up under the steering wheel. It looks like quite a bit of the front dash will be uncovered including the plastic in front of the steering wheel. I will give it a try when the temperature gets back to bareable here in NJ.

odd my fellow "dark bronzemist SE" friend.

mine had 2 10mm screws
then again my car was definetly..how can i say it, in need of major help when i bought it so i'd believe that it was taken apart before and someone "lost" the rivets.

but i know i used a 10mm rachet.

I'll be disassembling my dashboard to do some radio mods, either this weekend or next. I'll be taking pictures that will help show the process.

Yours is the only one I heard of with screws. I hope the rest of your car doesn't have too many makeshift repairs like that. Stuff like that drives me nuts
