Crutchfield'* mis-information
Alright, I have a 2002 SSEi, my VIN says so. The car also came with the Monsoon sound system from the factory. I know this because I took the amp out of the trunk. It has 6 3/4 front door speakers with tweeters in the A pillars. It has 5 1/4 rear door speakers, and it also has 6x9 rear deck speakers. Why is it then Crutchfield'* website AND advisors say my 2002 HAD to have had the Bose system in it? Why also is it they say 2003 is when Monsoon was put in the car'* along with my rear door speakers? I want to call them back and call them idiots but that'* mean.

Well I played their game and put in I had a 2003, it let me select that I had a Monsoon but it still didn't show rear door speakers. Effin tards.
Sonic Electronix is the same way though. I guess my cars rear doors are special.

When I bought stuff from Crutchfield/Sonic they didn't know anything about our cars whatsoever. I had to research and find all the adapters and whatnot myself.
I wouldn't even bother with the rear door speakers, anyway. They're pretty pointless. I'm not even using rear speakers. Just front components and a sub.

I'm sure it sounds decent, but IMO 3 and 4 way speakers are a gimmick. Id rather just have a nice set of 2 or 3 way components in the front. After ditching the rear stage in my car, I really like the way it sounds now having all the speakers up front (save for the sub, which doesn't matter because bass is omnidirectional).

Let me rephrase: 4 way, 5 way, etc coaxial speakers are unnecessary. They will never sound like a good set of components. I'd take a 2 way component set over a 4 way coaxial any day.
Not even close to the same thing. Surround sound systems have that many speakers because each speaker has its own discrete channel and produces sounds independent of eachother. It'* meant to create realism and "put you in the action."
Music is meant to be listened in stereo with the speakers in front of you. So, really the proper way to put speakers in your car would be to have none at all in the rear (save for the subwoofer, because the low frequencies can't be localized). People who have high quality setups in their homes used for strictly music listening would never have speakers all around them. Like this:
Go look into some SQ setups in cars and see how many use speakers smacked here and there all over the car. They put a lot of time and energy into getting the sound image in the correct spot, and it ain't in the back of the car.
That being said, a lot of people prefer the sound of having rear fill and in the end it'* all about preference. But, that doesn't mean it'* the "right" way.

I used to have rears in my setup, but came to the same conclusion. The back speakers just throw off the sound up front which is what is important (to me atleast). Especially since the rear doors are only 5 1/4 and the fronts are 6 1/2. Even if I cut 6 1/2'* into the back door, it still wouldn't sound right. Plus at $2200 a set, the people in the back seat can just listen to the front speakers...
