Theftlock - Removing stock radio
My car came with the stock GM cassette radio with equalizer and I'm replacing it with a GM cd radio from another Bonnie. Anyway, my Theftlock light has always been off on my stock radio and I know for a fact the replacement is fine (been tested). So will I be safe to just pull out the stock radio and put in the CD replacement?

I got a 2000 and am in the process of changing the stock unit with a GM upgrated unit. I heard that the dealer has to reset? the theftlock or something. Anyone gone tru this before and is there an alternate way - don't like going to the dealer.

92-99 stereos, no problem. Just make sure the theftlock is off. I believe the 2000+ radios have to have the VIN number of the car programmed into it by the dealer, but I'm not completely sure.

I got a problem, the LCD display on the radio won't come on...makes changing stations near impossible and I REALLY need the clock. Any input on how to repair it? Could it be the harness? I popped a piece of plastic on the upper gray connector out of anger when I removed it from the old radio, but no wires came out. Also, this radio came with an extra connector in the middle on the back while my old one had a piece of tape over a hole where that connector would have been.
(old radio was 94 GM delco cassette, new radio is 98 GM delco cd-player--both Bonnies)

Take the display bulb out of the old radio and swap it with the bulb in the new radio. I believe the connector you're talking about is the remote cassette/cd changer input.

There should be four or so tabs on the front faceplate. Just delicately use a small screwdriver to release the tabs and take the front faceplate out. From what I remember, you should be able to see the display bulb base after that.
