Bass
Is it possible to add a woofer to the stock sound system?
I kinda like the rear speakers it the car now but would like to add a subwoofer.
What would it take to add one with out to much effort?

I put a 10' square Kicker sub on the rear shelf (just fit) and without a box (Hey the trunk is air tight), and a 350 watt Alpine Amp to power it in the trunk. The amp has leads that you tie into the rear speakers. It'* not what the car audiophiles would consider a good setup, But,... it delivers great sound to the existing system, didn't require any special mods, and didnt cost an arm and a leg. It was simple to put in and Bumps pretty well considering the minimal cost and effort. Got both on ebay for cheap, works well, makes my hard rock sound good, and turns heads regardless of what the purists want to say. You can stand outside the car, hear the music clearly, and watch the back window pulse. Not bad for an hours work and $150 invested.

buy amp
buy woofers
buy box
buy powerwire kit
buy line output converter
install
done.
enjoy your bass.
thats all you need
personally for a moderate system of say 600 that bumps well 2 12 or 15s(i'd do 15s myself almost the same price but ALOT more cone area) type Rs with 1500rms going through them will be plenty loud. sealed or ported it will be fine.
For about 350: smaller cheaper system a single 15 ARGH in a ported box with 750RMS going through it will work well also.

Do I have to add an amp? Or is there a way to just use the bas from the stock system? Like a cross over or whatever. PLus the subwoofer of course.

No !..... I put the explanation in because you will blow **** up,....period. You can go cheap with good components as I did and get decent sound or go by the book as iluvmybonne chimed in and get great sound. But adding a sub into your stock system is going to blow the stock system, and possibly your DIC and more.

??? I didnt mean to come off rude at all. So please excuse me for anything as such you "read" into my post. I myself read things into posts that werent intended, it'* hard to discern on the internet with just text to read. Please forgive my for any hard feelings you might have about this here. Just the thought of you doing it made me gasp.

He didn't mean to be rude. As he said, sometimes it'* hard to understand a meaning in text. This site has very little in the form of smilies. These help show the meaning a little better. Don't worry, I'll slap him around a little behind the scenes.

Heads to the Administrator Room for refresher course on Smilies 101.... So where'* the smiley for trudging off feeling like a bad toad. I gotta go now and assign myself some infraction points.
