Default FRUGGIN COMPUTERS!!!---HELP!!-- Solved!

LOL. No I wont be using caps throughout the post..

OK-- I cancled my appointment with GM today... I want to look through it before they tell me that.. i like have to owe them 500dollars to run a new wire.. or somthing dumb like that..

PROBLEM RECAP-
1)=On start up I have no gauges (like i didnt even have the key on) and three dashes across climit control screen, and the DEFrost light turned on.
--usually turns on between 5seconds of operation and 3hours, can be moving.. can be parked..

2)= When gauges are working It says my oil pressure is low, ive changed oil pressure sending unit. no help... low as 2-200 as appossed to 220-400
(no knocks from engine)

INFO)
-behind my glove box there is my BCM (body control moduel)
with three(that I can see) Micro-pack connectors.

C1-brown C2-brown C3-red.. (Maybe this is used in bonnes too??)

MISSING WIRES
:On C1-C
cavity C15 (curuit number 1171) circuit function= Wake up FROM CRTC
:On C1-D
cavity D2 (circuit number 73 circuit function= CRTC WAKE UP OUTPUT
--are these VIC??

Definitions=
Wake Up???
CRTC???

More info)
Behind the IPC (instrument panel cluster)
There is a black Micro-pack (I have yet to take my dash appart and see this)

***Thinking???
There is a wire here (ipc) and the bcm that is the same
(from BCM)
C1-D
cavityD16--DK BLU/WHT wire(*??) circuit number-555- (circuit function- IPC WAKE UP OUTPUT)
--------------------------------------------
(at IPC)
cavityC3--DK BLU/WHT wire(*??) circuit number-555- (circuit function-WAKE UP)
and
cavityD3--DK BLU/WHT wire(*??) circuit number-555- (circuit function-WAKE UP)

God this is confusing...
ANY help would be appreated.. or even a place where someone could help me...

I remember someone saying that there was a capacitor inside the gauges cluster that explodes and causes problems.

You need the factory service manual for accurate electrical diagnosis!

I took the cluster out-finally, wasnt do bad.. didnt brake anything.. It had a micro-connector at the back of it. that basicly plugged in. All the pins where find. I uses fomr diaeclectic grease.. no help.. :(
I emailed around to a few wreakers, one of them had a anologe dash from a 91 trofeo (they shredded most of the rest of the car )
That they said it would work with my 92. They didnt mession price. Its eighter this is a rare car so JACK THE PRICE UP! or this is a rare car, and ill never be able to sell this thing, and if he wants, he can have it for a few hundred..

So should I just buy the used cluster... see if it works?.. Would a wrecker take a part back? and give me money for it?

Did you open up the cluster to look for the blown capacitor? Did you take apart and put back together the connectors inside the cluster?

Default woah..

No i didnt rip it appart..
I'm not a techy.. sure i could take connectors and stuff apart. but why would a blown peice of tin foil in the cluster screw my gauges and and my climate control?
Has anyone taking a BCM appart?... ?

Default hmm.

Well i still didnt take it appart. I had other things to do today.. but...
I went out.. still no dash... then I stoped at home.. turned off.. left.. came back. still nothing.. I hit ontop of the dash.. but near the windsheld.. And it came on (everything climate control too) and the DIC said "electrical problem" my self diagnostics didnt do anything but show some old codes.. but would GM'* scan tool do it?...
and what does it mean that when I hit it... every started back up? loose connection? oxidexed connection? burn that condenser you were talking about?

I would say that it is an oxidized connector somewhere in there. Have you ever looked inside a computer? There are ribbon cables that connect to circuit boards. These connections are the places where bad connections can happen. In my dashboard, I had intermittent displays until I took apart the gauges cluster and disconnected all of the ribbon cables and reconnected them.

Other Bonneville owners have been able to hit the dashboard in the right place, and make the VF displays reappear.

Now, where does the climate control receive its power or its display signals from? Everything sounds like it may be going through one central brain, or area, that has an oxidized connection... I would have to look at the service manual to be able to determine which component to take apart and fix the connectors.

Try calling one of the technicians at United Radio in Syracuse. They may be familiar with your problem.

Default well/

I have a 25 digit digial display.. so its an anologe dash with a digital feed...
My car like lots others have a BCM (body control moduel) it knows everything about everything... sence i hit the dash and it came back im think about disasembling the dash.. if i find a crack or somthing in a circuit board i have a friend who took that kinda stuff in university.. so he could fix that... if its only oxidezed connectors that would be great. I know the car sat for the last 2 years.. I just only started driving it. then all these electrical problems happend.
