system killing altinator?
ok so i have a 1600 watt rms sub amp. and a 640 component amp and a 3 farad CAP
and the alt is basicly dying. typical light dim and the alt tends to drop to 10amps and this is while driving.
any ideas?
i was thinking about putting a smaller pully on the ALT. is this a bad idea?
i have not upgraded the wire to the bat or the alt to a larger gauge. may be more work then its worth.
i was also thinking about getting a larger ALT. but its already a 140amp ALT.
not looking to spend a whole lot of money to render the problem. but i would like to try to fix it.

Yes, the 140amp probably can't handle all that.

Upgrade to a 160amp.

actually to be frank with you, 1600 watts should not be killing your alt. Even with your 640 watts componet amp. Instead of upgrading your alt, I would suggest you buy another battery to help your voltage out. What amp and sub combo do you have by the way? Take a look into maybe a kenetik 2400 or a powermaster 2400. Both are great products and will help greatly on your voltage drop.
