subwoofer placement
just wanted to know the hollow space under the dash behind the center console does anyone know if there is enough space to fit a 8" woofer or if any one has done this before.

someone did it, but he had a column shifter not the center console one, he made a small box and put it in there

I really like mine in the center of the rear deck pounding up on the glass.

Not hard, I used a hand held air powered reciprocating saw, took it slow and the blade cut through the "reinforcement area's" pretty easily. I'm sure a small jig saw with a long blade or a dremel with a zip bit could do the same. As well the speaker has a large lip so there is alot of forgiveness when you slide it down in. An audiophile would say you need a sealed box which could be built under it in the trunk. I say the closed trunk IS a sealed box. :D Besides, with the dual air compressors, a 3 gallon chrome tank, the air manifold and valving for my air suspension, plus the airlines that feed it all,....I just dont have room for a box. Anyways, I like it, it sounds great, and I like the look. It is not free air, and it still makes a bump nicely with the trunk closed. It's kind of special when I open the trunk acess hatch.... I tell people thats the "Custom Port" :rolleyes:Attachment 30377

And ya know, I got alot of grief from the guys at the custom shop where I hang at while thinking about it before it went in. Everyone was amazed at how well it worked without an actual box. (Talk about 'thinking outside the box" Hahaha! I really didnt have that option. I am very happy with the sound and performance. The back glass makes a nice sounding board and when cranked, you'd swear she was going to explode.

8" square Kicker sub, just fit. It was against the glass going in.
