Subs Question

well, I am finally in the mood to add a little more bass to the car. I am trying to decide if i want to run 1 12 kicker solobaric L5 or 2 kicker comp vrs? I am looking at the profile amps just because the kickers are outragously priced, but im sure well worth it. What subs would you choose? and also what do i get a 2ohm or 4 ohm?

I think the lower the ohm's, the better bass you will get. Have you checked ebay yet?

Usually 2 ohms will give you the most power, and almost all mono sub amps are stable at 2 ohms. One 2 ohm sub, or two 4 ohm subs in parallel.

A smaller ohm load doesnt always mean that one amp is more powerful than another. Yes kicker does make expensive amps, but i wouldnt get a profile either. You should look around for an affordable option, but dont go too inxepensive because you usually get what you pay for.

I agree, first off what's your budget, what else do you have in car, and what results are you looking for. Loud thumping bass? clean tight bass? are you planning on amping the fronts and or rears?
Start there and we can help you out.

i have one solobaric 12l7 in a ported box. if you want base, this is it. you do need to do something with the highs inside the car.

Solobaric's do indeed rock...

My experience is with the "little brother" which
we used 4 to build isobaric boxes with- in the joists
or better put the floor..... Home theater application.....

Almost as good as transducers! Powered by a
plate amp installed in the wall with IR control.

Imagine they are astounding in an automobile
if properly matched to an amplifier....

L5's
