in my opinion, bose is not worth it....go aftermarket, they will be cheaper also....

the stock bose system in my moms 97 ssei isnt worth turning up at all, even with the stock amp

Bose isn't clear at all IMO... Those cubes you see at Best Buy? 2" paper cone with a cheap integrated tweeter. I've seen where those drivers cost next to nothing for bose. Then shove it in a plastic box (bad for sound) that'* way too small (bad for sound) and run it at weird power levels. And a "subwoofer" with multiple 3" or 4" drivers? Cmon... All marketing.

The bose system in Bonneville'* doesnt' last long like mentioned. It'* not horrible, but the premium sound system, that'* not bose (usually found in SE, SLE) will play louder, and in used cars will sound MUCH better. When you switch components out, you don't have to worry about the amp and crazy wiring associated with the blose system.

Not only are those small cubes made of paper cones....EVERY single bose speaker is made of paper, even the tweeters (paper cone tweeters - bleh). Plus if you were to put bose drivers in your car, they generally are a very small impedance (like under 2 ohms) in order for the dinky little amplifiers they use to actually push some power to them. So if you arent running with bose amps, you'll probably smoke whatever amp IS driving them.

I dumped my BOSE 6x9'* and replaced with Pioneer 4-ways. Big-time difference in sound for less than $80.

Pioneer is a good place to start for the normal car enthusiast. Wants better, but isn't crazy about audio. Great prices, and noises.
