Default Relocating Compass (96+)

Ok,

I've easily done the compass relocation on my 91..... it'* not directional and it doesn't matter which way is up.

But the 97'* compass is directional, and does care which way is up.

I was wondering, for those with subs in the trunk, what have you done? Where have you relocated the compass to?

Thanks

yah at first i moved it away twards the back of the trunk to get away from the speakers when when i added sound deadener and subwoofers for the rear deck speakers it totally threw it off to the point it wouldnt read anything. so i decided to move it somewhere else so yah it definately moved to the top of the back windshield because it was the farthest place from the speakers and still keeping it in the back. i had to extend the wires but it wasnt hard to do at all. i also painted the box black so it blends better cuz it was grey. i used super heavy duty velcro to stick it to the window. hope this helps you out. the compass works perfectly now.

yah boo on techinfo my way works really nice only real work is extending the wires and that isnt too difficult to do. it is the best way if you cant have it in the trunk because of speakers and subwoofers. i used to have it on top of the deck but that looked bad so the best way to get rid of all those problems is to move it like I did.

Yea but I really don't want it on my back window....

Maybe if I there was enough room to hide it in the headliner at the back..... hrm...

you really dont notice it that much but yah i tried under the headliner and it made a buldge where i put it so yah didnt look good at all. if you want you can try to move it back further in the trunk but if not i suggest the top of the deck or the back windshield.

Yea I'd probably be ok with a small buldge in the headliner....
I might try putting it on the trunk lid... routing the wires up along there shouldn' be too hard.

No.... I guess not.... except that at the front of the car you've got a lot more metal and more electronics.... true the subs (magnets) in the trunk cause the most problems.... but I'm not sure how much the front end would cause problems.

Might be an idea to try.
