Antenna Problems with new HU
I am installing a new HU in the Bonne and have run into several problems. All of which I've been able to solve but this one; My power antenna does not go up or down wiht the new radio. It is down and stays down. I have an antenna adapter plugged from the factory cable into the jack in the aftermarket head unit. The antenna worked fine for the most part with my factory HU. Is there any way to manually get the antenna to rise if nbody here can help me solve why it'* not going up? I don't mind if I have to leave the antenna up all the time, it'* not a big deal, but I need AM/FM reception. Also, when I turn the car to accesory, I get a grinding noise from the area where the base of the power antenna is. I had this noise before installing the head unit, but thought nothing of it because I had not come across any toubles. The grinding noise goes away when the engine is powered up fully it seems. Can anyone help me solve this? I started the head unit install so long ago, but haven't had time to really work on it. Tomorrow is my day off and I would like to get everything working so I can show you guys my first mod. Along with some whoreage, washed and waxed her today. Thanks for any input.

that will work if the new hu don't have a remote wire or a ant. wire these are blue or blue/white. the noise is your ant tryin to retrac it self i won't worry about it

Shot in the dark...
Many factory systems just "pulse" 12 v to "start" the antenna motor
like a momentary switch.... the antenna motor activates and runs
until it hits the limit switch and stops - awaiting another "pulse"
to retract.
The (very few) new head units I've tested feed a CONSTANT 12v
to the antenna motor. Older motors would actuate on 12v and as long
as 12v was present stay up.... loss of power - retract.
I'm simply wondering <out loud> if the new HU has a constant 12v
and the antenna is a momentary.
1) You have the motor out of sync - why it'* retracting on 12v hi
- try just poppin 12v on the line and see if it gets goin' again
2) if the antenna is momentary (just guessin' here) you'll need to relay the circuit
Or (as usual) I'm completely off my rocker
Post back the status 'tho
I for one would like to know your outcome

Ok after thinkin about it we came up to this. what you need to do is this. turn your car on and turn your radio off. does your grinding stop. or does it still happen if so I could be your fuel pump running. once you figure that out you need to see if your getting power to your ant. maybe your fuse is poped. maybe you don't have the right wire hooked up.
if you have power and it. try hooking your factor radio back up see if it works again.if not it sounds to me your ant' motor is burned up for a cheap fix up it up with a pair of plyers. I did on mine and i get decent reseption. the right way to fix it is to buy another ant. and put it in it'* not a bad job just follow your ant. wire up to the nearest connection unplug and disconnect the others and un bolt it sould come right out with no problems then put every thing back together and your fixed let me know
