Default a "downgrade"

Well, I currently have two Pioneer 12'* in my trunk but I'm looking to get good bass without subs in my trunk. Would it be possible to get some good 6" woofers in place of the 6x9'* that would sound good? Basically I'm looking for great bass response (I know not as good as subs). The bass from 6x9'* aren't good enough so that'* why I went with subwoofers in the first place but I"m tired of having a bulky box in my trunk and not having as much trunk space. The only problem is back seat passengers will only be hearing the bass which will get annoying for them. I was looking at home audio 6 1/2" woofers but all of them appear to need to be installed in a box? Does anybody know of a really good 6 1/2" woofer that would work for what I am looking for? I"m stumped on this on what to do.

For the most part Home Audio woofers need to be installed in a box, but why would you want to? The 6x9s will have more and better bass then a 6 1/2" mid would. The mids would sound cleaner possibly... Stick with some good 6x9s and away you go.

WHy not just use like 1 10" woofer? You may have better results with that.

and still clutter up his trunk. You could do something small on the rear deck, or if you were happy with the factory "lows" then you could just stick with 6x9'* on the rear deck

If you want to get inventive and dont mind cuting up your car, you may be able to get a couple of 8 inch subs and put them in the rear deck. IB or in a box. OR you could possibly add another pair of 6x9s.

umm.. MOST bass requires a form of box to make it sound better.... other option is if you find what size you need for lets say the 6x9'*.. you can make a long flat box that covers the backside (trunk side ) of the speakers so you lose just a bit of top trunk space.. but marginal

I thihkn a bass tube of some kind would still be best. why not try the one from infinity. it looks pretty small but would still provide some bass

I would go with an inclosure for a good pair of 6x9'* on the back side in the trunk.. Get some good 6x9'* tho.
