Need to identify TACH lead coming out of coil pack
Subject line says it all. Need to connect to correct wire to feed tach signal to remote starter. Various manuals suggest that it'* a white wire, but my '93 SSEi seems to have more than one whitish-looking wire at coil pack. I'm seeing a group of 4 (?) wires going in one connector, and maybe 6-8 in another connector next to it. Any advice welcome; ...

I think you're looking for Pin "E". It'* a white wire that goes to the instrument panel. All the other wires cgo to the cam sensor, the crankshaft sensor, the fuse, or the PCM.

I do have the service manuals, but the wiring diagrams are separated out by function rather than location, for the most part, so it'* a multi-step process to figure out which wire, then which connectors it passes through, then which pin of that connector, etc...
Getting at the wire up at the dashboard end is not really an option, due to space problems, plus I have to run wires out under the hood anyway (for hood interlock pin switch) so I might as well connect up at the coil pack, once I figure out which wire is the right one. Tried comparing with the '96 Trans Sport coil pack but the wiring harness is different there.

Looks like the sequence goes from right to left as you're looking at the ignition module from the front of the car. A is on the far right. E is the white wire between the black and purple wires. This is confirmed by my schematic. It says the purple and black are D and F.
This is 99% certainty!

That'* the kind of context I was looking for, and you're just in time. We're in downtown Chicago, on North Wacker Drive by the river, and you may have seen video of last night'* antiwar protests on the news. We just got a company-wide email from the management telling us to leave early today, because there'* _another_ march for tonight that will be going from the Dirksen Federal Building right past our front door on the way over to the Boeing building. Ah, democracy...
