Cheap Way to Tighten Up Rear Bass?
Hello,
A while ago I purchased a pair of Pioneer TS-A6995 6x9'* for the rear deck. They sound pretty decent, but I have to admit, the bass is pretty much the same as the old el-cheapo stock paper-surround speakers. I don't have the money to add an outboard amplifier or sub, so I was wondering if there were any other means to tighten up the bass for under $50. Right now they sound kind of muddy at the low end and don't have that kind of punch that I would like (I've ridden in a stock 2003 Honda Civic with no sub, and that thing had much tighter bass than mine).
I have 6 speakers (two rear 6x9'*, pair of 5.25" and 1" tweeter up front) and the stock single CD player with 7-band equalizer. Thanks for any help!

the speaks are sounding muddy due to a LACK of power. adding an a clean amp will brighten the highs, and add a more crisp accurate bass note. ideally, you would want a deck with at least 4 volt preouts and a decent set of rca cables (monster, rf) There is a lot more behind wiring than everyone thinks

Right-o, vze3r85p...was hoping to stay below $50, but since it seems that the consensus is to get more juice, that'* what I gotta do! I guess this is going to have to wait until summer when I get some more cash and when I have the time to actually wire up the Bonnie. Thanks for your help guys!

I would suggest you go to circuit city and get an open box. Don't forget, you MUST get good wires, cause you will only wind up replacing them!

I'd recommend getting a nice US Acoustics amp. Go to www.caraudioforum.com and check out the for sale section, do a search for "Zed Audio". He has some really nice USX amps for real cheap... and these are quality amps. I have a 4x85w RMS USX amp that I got from Zed Audio for like 85 bucks, and all you need is a two channel. Talk to some of the guys there about US acoustics, they all swear by it, I think it'* the best bang for the buck you can find as far as class A/B amps goes.

alright, you might not believe me, and it does sound weird i admit. go to Walmart, enter their amazing ( notice sarcasm) stereo dept, and... get this... pick up a Jensen amp. i swear they work. you know, they're cheap as hell, but its the only thing jensen i'll buy, they work their asses off, and they are CHEAP, and they have a warranty.
