Default adding steering wheel audio controls

ok. here'* a different one.

i'm tinkering with my lesabre and trying ti figure out how the radio works and i've discovered... i can't reach the radio from my seat. can't do it. no way, no how.

the van had the steering wheel controls and i had no problem reaching those. i was wondering how difficult it would be to swap the wheel and the head unit from the van to the lesabre. would it be a wiring nightmare or a simple straightforward swap? was the '93 sabre availible with the wheel controls? would the wiring already be in place?

lastly would the trans sports airbag modual be compattible with the lesabre'* SIR system?

is this way more work than it'* worth?

Well, it would be a MAJOR headache to do it...not worth it in my opinion.

1) You would have to find a compatible radio. Not hard to do...hell yours might even already be compatible. And honestly, do you think the radio from the van would look good there?

2) The SIR coil would have to be changed for sure to allow the steering wheel inputs to work, not to mention the backlighting.

3) You would still have to run TMK three wires from the column to the stereo. One is ground. One is for illumination, and the other is the data for it.

You mentioned earlier in another post about switching the seats and getting Bonneville seats to put in there. If so, and if you put a console in there, it would be better to relocated the buttons to the console, if that is the route you feel you should take. Me? I would replace the stereo with one that has a remote.
