Relocating tweeters in the front...
I need to find a new spot for my tweeters. Here is where thay are now:
http://www.mnbonnevilleclub.com/misc/ap1.jpg I need to free up the A-pillars and make room for the dual gauge pod. I was considering getting a 1-off pillar pod made but decided it would be best to just relocate the tweeters. My initial thought is to mount them on the door in the front - top corner opposite the window defrost vent (about 2-4" out from where they are now). Any thoughts on this? |
If you kept them there but angled them more you'd be fine. Just move the pillar pod up a little? If not just cut it out....

I'm guessing then your year doesn't have the spots in the doors for them, huh?

From the looks of it I can't leave them where they are and have the a-pillar gauge pods, they will overlap. In my doors I have the dual speaker cutouts, but nothing made for a tweeter. That's why I was thinking of putting them at the top most corner of the door. That would be the closest I could get them to where they are now.

on my car the smaller speaker in the door (top) is a tweeter, and its all stock... i thought it was the same on yours. just looks different

Hey Gordon,
Go to a salvage yard and find a 1997-newer Grand Prix with the premium speaker package. I took the tweeter pods out of a 2002 and put them in my SLE. They mount in the front corner of the front door window. They look good and sound awesome. Of course with those Infinity tweeters compared to the Pontiac Bose tweets I have they'd really kick butt. of course they can be mounted cleaner. I just did a quick install with double faced tape holding it in place on the door panel. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...761_4_full.jpg Stylez |
