Recommendation for head unit.
 

I got the stock Gm oldsmobile cd/cassette player. I wanted to purchase a new head unit. But I want it to fill the entire stock hole. I was wondering if any one knew of a cd player that can do this . I know that pioneeer makes a cd unit for GM vchiles but thats still not big enough I wanted the full thing.

actually you will need a 1.5 din reciver because 2 is too big. ive seen very few recievers that are 1.5 but if you look im sure you can find a couple out there.

you can of course use a new bonne's head unit.. but you still won't be getting aftermarket features/looks/quality/performance.. things like that.. if you don't mind me suggesting though.. I was going to get a regular head unit.. and fab up a box [using those cheap plastic ones as a template], and it would probably be of wood.. or perhaps wood with metal face.. or something.. whatever.. doesn't matter the material.. as long as you can handle it, and form it to the way you want. Well anyways.. have the head unit mounted up, with space at the bottom.. well I have a what I belive to be a 60's bonneville emblem.. its black, with silver lettering saying Bonneville, with glas atop it. Well, its just the right width for this at the bottom, so i'm going to mount it in the space between the head unit, and the bottom of the dash panel, giving it a clean look, along with a nice tough of individuality. Plus it won't be too expensive.. so that will be just that much more of a bonus.

check the sounddomain store. They often have the cd player mounting kits with the storage pocket below it. Or, you can check www.crutchfield.com and check out their 1.5 DIn recievers. I'd truthfully have to recommend a single din reciever though. they usually have better features, etc.

i most definately agree. i had a 97 grand am and i put and alpine one in, even though there is a bit of room above and below the head unit, i like it much better than a huge 1.5 din reciever.
