Default pioneer premier (vs. other head units)

What is the difference between the regular pioneer cd players and the premier versions? I like the look of the premiers better, and the prices are similar per model. I am looking at DEH-P760MP on ebay. The Premier DEH-P7600MP seems to have similar features. Which one is better?
ALSO these head units say that they are compatable with steering wheel controls, when you add an external adaptor, whats the deal with this? doesnt EVERY head unit hook up to wheel controls with the adaptor?

[EDIT]

After some research, these are the head units that I am looking at in my price range (on ebay)

Sony CDX-M8800 http://sm.crutchfield.com/*-9vjCVADG...700&I=158M8800

Panasonic CQ-C8300U http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp...noreRedirect=1

Pioneer DEH-P760 http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...891888,00.html

Pioneer Premier DEH-P760MPhttp://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...496597,00.html

Clarion DXZ745MP http://www.clarion.com/usa/product/i...oduct=DXZ745MP

What are your opinions on these units? Any other suggestions are welcome, but I want to stay under $200 US on ebay.

the only difference between the Pioneer and the Premier version is that the Premier version has higher out-put RCA pre-outs. I think that the Pioneer headunits have 4.5v and the Premier has 6.5v pre-outs

the premire is better IMO

you will need the SWIX-pac adaptor to use the steering wheel controls for your car

In addition to the higher voltage pre-outs; the Preimer line has a longer warranty. The catch is you have to have the equipment installed by an "authorized" Pioneer Premier dealer. I purchased a Pioneer Premier headunit off eBay (factory refurbished) and I got an extended warranty. Well, about 10 months into owning it the motorized face plate stopped working. I ended up getting my money back (AFTER 10 months!!) from the warranty company and I purchased a new Pioneer Premier from a local authorized Premier dealer. The install was great and I can rest a little easier knowing the warranty is 2 years instead of one.

I like my Premier.

Ive been in the market for the pioneer deh-7600mp for a little while and i was looking at the pioneer premier deh-760mp at first and heres what i came up with...

First off there is no difference in the preamp output voltage whatsoever, theyre both 2v output, which i think is terribly low for a higher model... :?

This is what the pioneer premier deh-760mp has compared to the pioneer deh-7600m: no automatic sound levelizer, has arctic ocean screen saver instead of lost shipwreck screen saver, steering wheel remote instead of card, 2 year warranty instead of 1, comes with premier service installation, the 760mp is a shiny silver color and the 7600mp is a charcoal color, and price isnt all that different, the 760mp is $20 more than the 7600mp.

The joy of looking at the dolphins, races cars and other things on the display screen and a 62 volume limiter............PRICELESS!!! Nothing will compare to the sound of a Pioneer head unit

unless its an ALPINE!!!!

Personally i'd take clarion with it'* sound quality over pioneer with dolphins everytime... But that'* just me.

Will the premier be nicer? a little bit, probably not noticable, but it is better. And it'* not the plain jane pioneer that everyone and their dog has.

Thats kind of the way I am looking at it. If i can buy it at future shop or crappy tire i dont want it in my car. Theres nothing unique about buyng the same garbage as everyone else. The 2V pre outs kinda scare me. If the deck I buy has 2V pre outs would I be better off using a line converter and hook the speaker outputs on the deck into the rca inputs on the amp?
