Default Rear Speakers and Steering Wheel Controls Dont Work

The rear speakers and steering wheel radio controls do not work in my 1995. Any suggestions on what might be the issue? I have pulled the radio and verified that all of the wires are well connected. Rear speakers are connected as well.

Radio plays well through the front speakers.

This vehicle sat for a couple of years before I got it.

they probably dry rotted and the first time the radio was turned on after sitting for so long, they probably instantly gave out. My guess is kinda the same with the steering wheel controls. The contacts may have accumulated corrosion on them so when the buttons are pressed, the radio doesnt get the commands from the steering wheel controls

You guys were right. I pulled both speakers today and yes - both had failed. I do have an audio signal coming to both.

I'm not sure how to remove the steering wheel controls - but will keep trying once I find some replacement speakers.

Thanks

As for removing the radio controls you just have to kinda pry up from the bottom on them. I figured it out and replaced mine. I do have a extra set that works, they are just scratched and have to be repainted. The thing to be carefull with it the wires, they are clipped on and you just have to feel with your fingers and pop them loose. If you need some pics I can help you out.

pop them with a battery and see if they make noise. Use a double A or 9V battery not a car battery... LOL!

Hey guys I have a story for that one... I was bored one night and I took of the speaker for this big toy we had. Place it face down on my desk and parted the wires.

I then found all the batteries we had in our house. I forgot how many of what since I was like 12 then, but I made this big half-circle consisting of about 4 D'*, 3 C'*, 6 double-A'*, and 4 Triple-A'*. I put them on my desk touching tips like I said in a half circle and then put one wire to one end of the circuit and then the other onto the opposite end.

At first there was nothing, then I started to hear the sound coming into our human range of hearing, then it started to get really really loud and then the speaker started jumping a bit and it was smoking out the bottom! That'* when I pulled the wire away afraid it would leave a burned mark on my desk, haha.

Yeah I was one of those kids that went through a pyro phase. @_@
