Eclipse HU - Secuity feature fix?
I don't have huge expectations, but I figured I'll ask anyways....
When I got my Eclipse HU, I set the security feature with a "Key CD." I have since forgotten what CD I used to enable the security feature. I had to disconnect the battery yesterday when I was doing my gaskets and now of course I cannot use the radio. Anyways, I have to send the HU back to Eclipse for them to "reset" it so I can use it.
I'm curious if there are any experienced people who know what it is they do to reset it so I can avoid tearing it out of the car and paying them to do it (assuming they charge for this service). If it does not involve replacing anything inside it, and/or it is easy I'd probably try it myself. Are there any electrical experts that can LMK?
Thanks!

from what i found in my research is:
you have 10 attempts to get it right.. good luck
if after 10 attemps you dont get it right, the radio is locked completely until reset by eclipse
eclipse charges like 40-50 bucks to reset it, and you have to register teh radio and provide photo ID to them for security purposes

I did mention to Bill I had five attempts, but Aaron, you are right. After 5 failed attempts, the screen says "HELP," then you have 5 MORE attempts before it'* completely locked. I currently have 6 more attempts.
Aaron, it does not have to be currently registered to send it in correct?
I do wish the 8445 had a detachable faceplate. I don't even know why I bothered setting the ESN.

i had found some old forum posts that in my travels earlier that some people had contacted Eclipse, and they were able to register just before sending in the unit for repair.
I'm sure you could contact Eclipse and get an answer pretty easily
i think the key thing with that is that they want to start creating a paper trail on the serial number for future security issues
