Rear Deck Speaker Depth

I'm looking at foam baffles (i'll reinforce) to seal off my 6x9's from the subwoofer bass waves I hear my speakers distort from this, and when i pop my trunk, it goes away...

How deep can i go? I'm running stock speakers right now. They have a 5" and 3 3/4" deep baffles.

If i upgrade later, and have the 3 3/4" ones will i need the 5" ones?

Well it depends how much clearance you have under your rear deck. Speaking stock, you could fit either size. There's nothing underneith the rear deck/ 6x9's. Is your box underneith your rear deck?

If I where to order those, I'd get the bigger ones, the 3.5 is for slim design speakers. Stock are pretty small and probably fit, but any decent regular 6x9 will need the 5in deep

Why not retro fit a round speaker such as 6.5 or 5.25 into those 6x9 holes.

i'm going to try and make an enclosure out of mdf for my rear speaks. basically boxes with the stock location being the face.

Priorties, priorties, I know how that goes, It sucks being a broke college kid. I ended up getting a job in my field and now only take 1-2 classes a semester. Takes lot longer to graduate but I'm getting paid well, and will stay at my shop after I graduate. I'd even stay there for my whole carear if I don't f it up.

So what happens to the bass response of the 6x9's if you enclose them in a box?
