Default New Toy( suggestions)

Well I just picked up a JVC KS-RF150 12 disc cd player for the car. Renée wanted to keep the factory deck due to steering wheel controls so that cd player runs on a FM Modulator.

I have an idea of where I want to put the control.
In the first picture it is level with the left hand side of the radio and heater controls.

In the second pic it is all the way over to the right so that I have little "trimming" to do to the dash and the wire is hidden better by the rest of the dash but it is off center and not in-line with anything.

Anyone have a thought about it.

Also where would be a good place to mount the cd player itself. Not under the rear deck since the compass is there. It is just a bit to big to go in the center consol. Not under the seats since I have the power and air seats wich leave no room there.

Thoughts anyone??/

Do it on the left, so you can reach it easier, otherwise i'd say do something neato with it, like a custom place for it.... (Need bigger dash pics)

I thought of that but it also comes with a remote. SO that way if I am stuck in the passenger seat I can still play with the stereo on the main controls and hold the remot too so she can't play with it,

She also doesn't want me cutting anything either.

Hmmmm
I may just built a little panel in between the dash and the center console below the ash tray.

Hey maybe built it into the ash tray since neither of us smoke and it would really be hidden then.

Damn you BonneMeMN I thought I was NOT gonna customize thsi one and get out easy. You HAD to suggest customize didn't you, LOL

Well I decided to go with the ashtray for it. The lighter got cut out and just removed the ashtray section. It is already carpet and ready to go. Actually here is a pic I took of it

Now in the second pic that is what it will look like, minus the wire. I already have the wire running behind the control and you don't see it. I dont' have a pic of it in the car cause I don't have the car right now, it is at the garage again, I will update my SES LIGHT post with the info.

And as for the cd player I am gonna mount it on the rear deck behind the seat but I am gonna cover it in carpet ( same color as the inside of the ashtray). I would have put it in the trunk but I wouldn't be able to use it most of the winter due to how cold it is.

OH yeah and I didn't have to carpet the entire ashtray since you only see maybe half of it when it is installed in the car but I figured why not.

Mike, the changer won't mess with the compass. Mine is there. No probs. Only large subs will mess with it.

I am not too concerned with it messing with the compass cause I am mounting it in the car on the rear deck, not in the trunk under the rear deck.

I couldn't find tan colored carpet so it will end up the same color as the inside of the ashtray.
I may try and make some kind of box type thing for it so the sides and front are covered ( the rear will get carpet directly over it). Hmmmm possibly I can cover the thing in mirrored Plexiglas ( still have some left over from when I used to go to stereo competition Adan I bought a 4'x8' sheet of it.)

The carpet will hide it way better, maybe just a door on front in mirror ( but then I would get that reflection while driving).

K maybe I am thinking too much now, LOL.

Hey will congrats on the 100,000 MIles
