Default adding aftermarket cd/mp3 player

Hi all, I went to a car stereo shop yesterday wanting to replace my stock head unit (1997 SSEi w/ bose system) with an aftermarket cd/mp3 player, I was told I would have to replace all speakers and amps as well. Is this true? do I have any other options?

Thanks, Earl

Have you considered a CD/MP3 changer? I have a JVC unit in my truck and I love it. RF modulated to so it'* a simple add-on.

You don't have to change it all, but the shop will prefer you did. It makes it kinda easier for them. I'm sure you've already found out that the stock bose speakers, blose....

A new setup with an aftermarket deck, new wiring to the speakers, and new speakers will be easier, and sound WAY better then aftermarket CD player, with bose stuff.

Thats a bunch of hooey. I would like to know their reasoning on why amps and speakers need to be changed out with a new head unit.
