I have an '00 SSEi that has the Bose CD/Cass system and am wanting to add on and amp and subs. I did a little research after everything was purchased and read that with the Bose audio, it may be difficult or sound like crap. I found out there is some sort of interface to install behind the head unit which will provide rca outputs and receive power before the bose amp? Is this correct and if so, does anyone know which interface I need and where to find it?

The Bose system sounds awesome, I just thought if I'm gonna keep this car a bit as my daily driver, I want to bump around, and I already had an enclosure, wiring kit and an amp, all i had to buy was the subs. The amp is a pyramid american 1500 watt 2-channel and the two 12" subs that I just bought are Kenwood KFC-W3005 700 watt max

I decided to just rip out the old system and put in a whole new one. Because I was fussing with it to much.

I prefer to leave the factory head unit to keep it clean looking inside and to keep my functional steering wheel radio controls. I may leave the audio as is with the Bose only, because I only have intentions of keeping the car through the winter and selling it in the spring. I bought it with a salvage title with driver side damage, and repaired it but have been struggling to resell it.

I was able to put an amp & subs with my Bose system. The amp I had was equipped with speaker level inputs, so I just spliced into the rear seakers and ran it to the amp. I never had any problems with it sounding bad, although I'm not the type to really blast it, I just like a little extra bass in some of my music.

Im running 2 12" JL with my bose sytem right now, and they sound great, they are spliced into the rear speakers just before the bose amp. (like the above posts have mentioned). You can use the pink wire going into the amp for you remote turn on. Its actually pretty easy to set up, everything is in the trunk, you only have to run power wires, and even that is easy since the battery is under the back seat!

I had a 2000 ssei when they were new. If you remove the head unit the memory settings stopped working.
