Speaker Size
on my 89 Bonnie with the premium door speakers i need to know the size of the tweeters in the door and a good replacement for them and the 5 1/4 in the doors. Also is it possible to install some 4x6'* in the openings in the dash. I've looked to see if there is a factory harness but I don't believe there are any since my car came with the door speakers. Any suggestions on this and where is a good place to get some speakers as well?

Wow...you have door speakers on your LE?...geez, must be nice to have 6 speaker sound.!!
I had Kenwood 4x6 mid range speakers installed on the dash, and there great!! (ignore the Tony the Tiger phrase, sorry).
In my case, we had to take off the top of the dash, because there was this steel cover plate thing that was cut wrong, making it impossible to remove the speaker on the driver side. In your case, and I hope this is not typical, you can remove the speaker cover and simply unscrew the speaker and wiring harness.

I would love to have tweeters in the doors. even the back doors; if I get crazy enough. As for the removal of the dash, to replace the speakers; it seemed odd that the steel plate around the speakers on the drivers side was cut really weird, it looked wrong in comparison to the other side.
No big deal whats done is done!

How many people have an 87-91 Bonnie with the LE classification that has the steering wheel controls? Is my car just an odd ball or what. I thought only the upscale models had it. My car is getting more special by the days.

about the weird options
GM puts strange options in all there cars. i've seen so many base bonnies with SSE seats and SSE options. and SSE'* is cloth seating etc... when you get these cars new GM allows you to pick and choose what you want.. of course and thank god there are some options ONLY for SSEi ans SSE models... like the ground effects DIC ,etc.. that you cannot choose for a base model. i think that this is bad.. SSE & SSEi become less prestigious with allowing base models these options.. oh well.......
and in the case of locating speakers on the 88-91 SSE is different, i have an 88 SSE and i have 6 speaker sound... 2 in back, 2 larger spker in the door and the small ones in the dash.. i think with the 90 and 91(not sure about 89) the speakers are located 2 in back, 2 larger spker in the door and instead of leaving the small speakers in the dash Pontiac moved them to the door (they are very noticeable) but they still left the speaker places in the dash with covers(but no speakers) very strange lol
