you need a PAC SWIx, and your new HU HAS to have a remote

I think John Deer Boy had changed to a newer HU, and had to switch a wire or two in the harness.

hey... i just did an 02 sle steering wheel controlls on my jvc... I work at best buy so we can get these peripheral adapters... the one i used is a DIRECT CONNECT to my jvc kdavx1... its the peripheral peswiakj, or the peswips, depending on brand of radio...much cleaner and easier than the pac swix unit... sony, pioneer, jvc, alpine, kenwood... if your aftermarket radio has a WIRED REMOTE INPUT on the back... you can interface your steering wheel controlls without mounting an infrared eye!!! the unit is a bill and only needs switched 12, ground, and a data wire connect... simple as pie

bug...if he'* talking about swapping from a 93 HU to a 95, there will be slight wiring differences in his connector and no special unit required.

Although..if he'* changing an aftermarket.. what you mention is good to keep in mind as there are direct connect units and infrared available.

His sig says it'* an 88. Not sure if a 95 unit will even mate to the dash properly, will it? Of course with enough cutting and grinding, anything will fit!

I put a '98 HU in my 93 and there were some minor wiring and bracket mods to make. See the great article willwren wrote on the subject in "Tech Info". I could post a link, but you'll be much more satisfied if you find it yourself.
