Problems with Chevy Cavalier 2001 Avistart remote start partial install

Bought a Chevy Cavalier 2001 Z24 recently.
Added: Avital-Avistart 4200 (remote start)

Was not able to start it at first but finally got it going. I knew it had issues when I purchased it. Come to find out by accident getting into the car one day that many wires under the steering column fell from underneath it and were dangling. Climbed under and looked closer to reveal the fact that someone prior to me attempted to install a remote start system and apparently only got part way through it (as I assume). Although as I said I was able to get it going prior to this discovery I did see that the dashboard lights were lit up like Anti-theft and a few others. The windshield wipers control did not operate correctly, when I put on the head lights I the doors lock and the radio display flashes, etc.

So it seems that someone tried to install a remote start and either botched the job totally or only got part way through it. I started to research this on the internet and was able to find the install manual for the remote start system but it is almost impossible to figure out where this person left off or if he/she made mistakes on the install process.

I pulled off the remote start satellite unit and the car would not even start.

I am really not interested in getting this remote starter to work but more so getting the car to just start with the key and get the options to work properly, like turn signals, headlights etc.

Any ideas as to how I can either reverse install this unit or what may be causing these problems. I look under the dashboard and it seems there are a lot of extra wires spliced in with inline fuses used.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Basically, you are going to have to COMPLETELY REMOVE the remote start and ALL the wiring and repair the wiring with soldered joints...

Once that is done, then we go to work on the no start and the accessories.....so you bought this car even though it wouldn't start?

Yeah, what he said.

Start completely over from scratch. If you have access to a junk yard, go in and see if you can find an identical model and pull the dash out and TAKE PICTURES!!!
