Rear Speakers failed
Hmm
700 Watt Infinity 4 channel AMP
Powerd by my Sony Deck
Speakers are connected DIRECTLY to the amp, ofcourse, I did not use any of the stock wiring at all when I installed in June.
Driving tonight, I had my tunes on, changed the station and suddenly, i only had front speakers working.
I messed with the fader, fade compleatly to rear, and I can hear SOME through the rear, however, I think the only thing working in the back is my stock tweeters, or so it sounds anyway.
There was a slight "hot speaker" smell in my trunk, however, they do that after a really good workout. Nothing was warm at all, not even the resistor on the rear speakers.
Both rears are MB Quarts, as are the fronts.
Tomorrow at work i will mess with them a bit, what should I check for primarily?

if you truely blew the voice coils on the speakers, you would know. They smell pretty rank.
I would start with checking all your connections. Try swapping the front and rear speakers on the amp. See if the rear speakers work then. Technically you could have blown a channel on the amp.

a good 4ohm speaker will generally measure between 3.5 and 4.5 ohms

It would be easier, troubleshooting-wise, to just swap the rear and front RCA'*. If you get no sound from the front speakers being hooked up to the rear channel, then it is your amp (same if you get front soundstage from the rear speakers).

I'm going to test that right away...
Thanks guys!
If its the amp, i can send it in to get fixed or whatever the warranty requires..i can toss an old 4 channel in there in the mean time...
On the topic...
I am running 4Ga wire from the battery to the amp.
Say I want to get a GOOD 12" sub, a small truck sized box (not to hinder all the space in my trunk)..how Does a person go about hooking up another amplifier to a 12" sub, when I already have an amp wired in?
Should I run a cap?
Thank You
